Want to Sell Your eBook Online? Learn How To Do So With or Without a Website!

Do you want your own ebook business set up lightning fast? It's not as difficult as you think...
I have been creating Squidoo lenses for over a year now. My Science lenses are really popular there and I get a decent amount of organic traffic from Google. I thought of grouping together more Science experiments that I have collected and learned from over the years into a book and I decided to give them away for a price. The only problem? I didn't have a sales page nor was I interested in owning a domain without hitting the target I had in mind first - earn enough from my free web pages before going the big way.
If you already have kept aside a certain amount of money for marketing or selling your ebooks online, then go ahead - purchase a domain and do all that it takes to get your ebook up and out there!
I wanted to go the free way first before getting a domain (don't we all?). Since my Science pages were popular, I thought of promoting a book right on these pages and see the results. But I didn't know next to nothing about how to protect my ebook and how the entire system would work without a sales page.
Learn how I sold my first ebook without purchasing a domain! It's very simple.. and best of all? It's free and doesn't cost you anything to get started.
How to Sell eBooks Online Without a Website
I searched for options to sell ebooks -- methods that wouldn't require me to set up a sales page and which would allow my ebook to be downloaded safely. This is when I came across PayLoadz. I didn't want to get started with it right away because of being wary of the amount of scams and theft that kept occurring online. I searched for honest reviews and liked what I read. I decided to try it out...
What You Have To Do To Sell Your eBook Using PayLoadz
- Register an account (for free, or if you want more features you can go premium).
- Edit your account settings by filling in your PayPal account ID.
- Upload your ebook and start selling using the PayLoadz code!
- Once a customer decides to buy your book, they are taken to the PayPal page for payment.
- When the customer finishes the purchase, they are automatically given a PayLoadz download link for your ebook (which expires in a matter of days).
The Benefits
- You can allow affiliates to promote your book. There's no fixed rate as such like in Clickbank and I have seen people setting up their affiliate fees as low as 2%.
- You can start with a free account.
- It's secure because the download link expires after some time.
- It's good for beginners who are intending to get into ebook sales business.
The Cons
- The transaction limit is only $50 for the PayLoadz free account. If you get a decent amount of sales per month, then I would recommend going premium.
- The premium payment is kind of too pricey for my miserly likings! It's $14.95 per month. But think of it this way -- if you don't want to purchase several .com domains (which costs around $10) nowadays, and want to just sell stuff from your free web pages then it's not so pricey after all. Apart from purchasing domains and hosting services, if you are setting up a sales page you might also need to pay for additional resources like designing it alongwith the banners. I suck at designing so I know I will have to outsource that work to someone.
- There's a 1 GB limit to your free account.
I haven't reached my transaction limit of $50 yet because I got into this only very recently (a week back to be exact). Once I reach the limit of $50, I might think of going the 'domain' way... which leads me to the next topic on how to sell your ebook using a website.
How to Sell Your eBook With a Website
I am no HTML guru. Oh wait! I am no guru of anything technical to be precise! All these website tutorials used to boggle my mind. I used to ask a lot of 'ifs', 'what' and 'whys' to myself to only have them unanswered. I couldn't find what I was looking for online, and trust me I am a sort of person who tries to find anything and everything for free at first! ;)
I knew it was time for me to get help from an expert when I couldn't handle all the half-baked tutorials I read online. I have been following Tiffany Dow's blog for years now and I decided to buy her ebook - Building an eBook empire - because I trust her and find her honest in whatever she does.
IMReportCard.com has given this book of hers an A grade rating. Since it's a vast topic to cover, I would be just providing another half baked tutorial on the web if I list all the stuff here, plus it won't be fair for Tiffany who has explained it so well in her ebook for beginners to understand. You don't need to be a geek to understand what she has written down! Her language is simple and understandable and she gets to the point. She has even used screenshots in the book making it easier for people with a short span attention (like yours truly) to benefit from.
This ebook for sure is going to be my guide when I set up my website for my ebooks in the near future. It's really useful and I would recommend the book to anyone who is a newbie and totally confused about the whole damn website thing! Make it easier for yourself and get the book coz it doesn't cost much plus you're saving yourself a lot of time...
